FET
(Frozen Embryo Transfer)
Freezing and thawing of embryos (fertilised eggs) are a true breakthrough in the history of assisted reproductive technology (ART). In fact, many fertility patients can benefit from the frozen embryos during IVF (in vitro fertilisation).
Merits Of Frozen Embryos:
The technique to freeze embryos is revolutionary and you will understand this better when you carefully consider the coveted benefits of it such as the following.
Extra IVF cycle: It means when your embryos are frozen and preserved, you would no longer be required to undergo the medication period (that is a must before every IVF cycle) to opt for a fresh IVF. It further connotes that from a single stimulated cycle, you could become a mother.
Economy: FET is less costly since you do not require to pass through the medication period and at the same time, retrieval of eggs and insemination. Instead, embryos are implanted directly into the uterus. Thus, the overall cost of FET is low compared to a fresh IVF cycle.
Easy FET cycle: It is easy as experienced by the patients. A patient here doesn’t require anaesthesia and surgery for eggs retrieval and also, there is no need for a fresh round of insemination at the laboratory. However, at the beginning of the FET cycle, oestrogen injections are administered once in every three days with a view to preparing the uterine lining (endometrium). In the later stage of the cycle, daily intramuscular progesterone is administered.
Controlling the progesterone level: During the period of medication for the IVF cycle, progesterone level in many a case rises. If it rises significantly, your doctor may advise for FET for all the available embryos since ovarian stimulation causes the endometrium to be less receptive to an embryo implant. Therefore, the chances of getting pregnant are reduced.
Why Gunasheela For IVF?
We are the pioneers of IVF technique in India. Way back in 1985, the first IVF baby was born in South India under the supervision of Founder Dr. Sulochana Gunasheela. She herself studied assisted reproductive technology in the US before establishing the FET unit at Gunasheela. Dr. Devika Gunasheela is an accomplished gynaecologist and she’s the daughter of Dr. Sulochana.
With a history of more than three decades in reproductive technology, we are the pioneer in this field. On top of that, we customise our services bespoke to your need here. As a matter of fact, you will always find us standing tall to your side in your journey of becoming a mother.
