Surrogacy mother is a woman who carries a baby for another person or couple who are the intended parents of the baby. In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate mother is impregnated with the father’s sperm via artificial insemination, and in gestational surrogacy, the surrogate mother is implanted with an embryo created from the parents’ eggs and sperm. The surrogate mother is legally obligated to give the baby to the intended parents upon birth.
