In the recent past with all the progress we have been able to make with high risk pregnancies and neonatal care what has emerged is an increase in the number of babies being born and surviving amidst all the risk factors which otherwise was a question of life and death . What this has led to is higher number of children who survived but struggling to thrive to reach their full cognitive potential having battled all the risk factors.We now have better understanding of brain development and theimportance of sensitive periods which mandates the scientific community to steer focus towards early intervention which will help these tiny humans who battled death for an improved quality of life minimizing developmental delays. A child developmental center caters to this very need to support the growing brain, make the best out of the window periods of critical times/sensitive periods, achieve milestones thereby minimize deficits in all domains of development physical, social and cognitive. This is achieved through a team of professionals headed by a neurodevelopmental pediatrician, physiotherapist, speech therapist, occupational therapists,special educators, child psychologists etc all working as an integrated team aiming brain development. By minimizing deficits , improving quality of life and supporting child to explore full potential of their cognition, we can ensure to have children who will grow up to be independent and meaningful contributors to society versus increase burden by having more dependent individuals in the future.
